for developing and driving forward the corporate Internet strategy

the development cycle for all web development work (internet, extranet

Work/Achievements:
- Initiated
the organisation’s first ever Internet audit and implemented
recommendations which led to an increase in operational efficiency.
The audit formed the basis of the EST’s first formal Internet
Strategy.
- Managed
the development process for several complex web development projects
including the EST’s www.saveenergy.co.uk. I also lead on the
development of an EU funded web based project called Cleaner Drive,
which involved developing and delivering websites and online marketing
plans for several European partners. The UK site (www.cleaner-drive.co.uk)
was completed on time and to budget.
- Rationalised
on both the number of stand-alone websites and agencies which helped
EST streamline the development process and make cost savings
- Worked
with major retailers to create mutually beneficial low-cost online
marketing opportunities
- Planned
and implemented online marketing campaigns for both the business to
business and business to consumer websites that resulted in helping
programme managers exceed marketing objectives
- Increased
site visitors by 105% and page views by 85% in 2002 for our high profile
consumer facing website.

for the Business News, Sports and Share Portfolio channels

Outline of Responsibilities:
My key role here was to develop and manage
marketing campaigns for several of the channels on the Financial Times
website, such as the sports coverage in the ’Time Off’ Channel as well
as the two largest channels - ‘News’ and ‘Markets & Portfolio’.
A large part of my time was spent liaising with product managers, creatives
and technologists to ensure that all marketing related projects were
completed on time and to budget.

- Made a direct impact within my first
month of starting at FT.com by helping to achieve record levels of
Budget Day traffic through managing the promotion of the site’s Budget
2000 coverage
- Co-ordinated the first ever e-mail
promotion of an FT.com news scoop
- Increased channel traffic for the
‘People Channel’ by 94 per cent during one month
- Was given responsibility for developing
creative for banner adverts after media agency was given the push

Outline of Responsibilities:
On joining RSD I was given sole responsibility
for developing and implementing marketing strategies to help increase
sales turnover and profitability. When I joined the company in 1997,
there were only the three partners and myself - when I left to join
FT.com, the company had grown to 11 members.

- Successfully created and introduced
a new brand called RSD eMedia. This involved setting up a new web
site and developing new marketing communications material to help
promote RSD eMedia web services.
- Researched and submitted a proposal
for the introduction of a web promotion service. This resulted in
the development of a new service to help clients effectively promote
their web site to increase traffic.
- Gained hands-on experience in assisting
SMEs with developing e-commerce strategy and integrating online promotion
with offline promotion.
- Successfully developed and implemented
innovative marketing and PR campaigns with a restricted budget. The
campaigns resulted in increasing awareness of the RSD brand, winning
new clients and increasing sales revenue.
- Successfully implemented a marketing
information system to help monitor the business environment and evaluate
the cost-effectiveness of promotional tools.
- Played a key role in winning major
contracts with North Eastern Training & Enterprise Councils /
Business Links that involved delivering subsidised IT and Internet
related support to local SMEs.

Wear-IT was a group of IT and
Internet companies who formed a strategic alliance. They offered a range
of services such as Web Development, Software Design, IT Training, Network
Solutions and IT Consultancy.
Position Held: Marketing Co-ordinator
Reported to the Directors of the individual member companies
Outline of Responsibilities:
I provided marketing support to a start-up
cluster of IT companies as a part of a graduate work placement programme.
Responsibilities included carrying out marketing research, producing
print material and developing a marketing communications plan. This
opportunity resulted in me being offered a full-time job with one of
the member companies, RSD ICT Ltd.
